    Shadow Mountain Reservoir
    Located in Grand Lake village, Shadow Mountain Lake is a large man-made lake used to control the water level in nearby Grand Lake. Acting as a reservoir, people can enjoy camping, boating and fishing on and around the water. It takes up 1,346 acres, stretching down to the Rocky Mountain National Park area.

    Grand Lake is Colorado's largest natural lake, located in the Rockies. Frequented by anglers and boaters, the lake feeds into two reservoirs, Granby and Shadow Mountain, and is surrounded by a range of camping sites and hiking trails.

    Colorado River
    Originating in northern Colorado, north of Grand Lake, the Colorado River is one of the United States' major waterways. Totaling 1,470 mi (2,352 km), the river spans a number of states – Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, New Mexico, Arizona and California – before emptying into the Gulf of California in Mexico. Until 1921 the river was known as the Grand River and was then renamed at the request of the State of Colorado.
