The Kauffman House Museum is the only example of a log hotel remaining in the Grand Lake area. Built in 1892, the hotel provided rustic accommodations for visitors until 1946. Today it houses many period items, such as log beds, quilts, sports equipment, clothing, kitchenware and an array of photographs. It is open daily from May 28 through to September 5 from 11am to 5pm. Housed inside a heritage building, the Red, White and Blue Firehouse Museum of Breckenridge boasts a collection of firefighting artifacts dating back to the late 1800s. Some of the walls have been left in their original shape, showing the construction method. The Red, White and Blue Fire Department was established in 1976 when the three local units merged together. Originally built in 1883, the Dillon Schoolhouse Museum boasts an extensive collection of educational artifacts, clothing, jewelry and various items from the late 1800s to early 1900s. Once a Carnegie library (1904-1971), the heritage building became the town's museum. One of it's premier exhibits is the scale model of the the Ice Palace, which was one of the largest and most used ice palaces ever built in the United States.
