Purchasing one lift ticket in Vail also grants skiers access to the resorts of Breckenridge, Keystone and Beaver Creek. Once an old mining town now but now a fully-fledged world-class ski resort, Breckenridge boasts skiing on four mountain peaks and a quaint village and town teeming with apres-ski activities. Its four peaks, numbered 7 through 10, offer skiing for all abilities and ages, while the resort's Victorian-style village has been entirely restored to provide lots of warmth and charm. The town of Breckenridge itself is located at an elevation of 9,600 ft (2,900 m), making it one of the higher ski resorts in Colorado. Day care facilities are available at all three base sites, accommodating children as young as two months up to five years. Snowboard enthusiasts will appreciate the variety and challenge offered by these peaks.

Located in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, Copper Mountain combines a thriving ski hill with a shopped-filled pedestrian village. The resort boasts naturally divided terrain, as well as ski-in, ski-out accommodation, tubing, ice skating, child care and more. Copper Mountain's ski season runs from early November to mid-April.

SolVista Basin at Granby Ranch is a smaller ski area compared to other resorts in the Northern Rockie. Catering to beginners and advanced skiers, the hill offers a range of facilities, including 33 trails, five chair lifts and several snow making machines. 30 per cent of the runs are targeted to beginners, 50 per cent to intermediates and 20 per cent to advanced skiers. SolVista has a vertical drop of 1,000 ft (300 m) and its longest run is 1.5 mi (2.4 km). Lessons and rental services for both skiing and snowboarding are found on-site. Enjoy a range of ski and snowboard activities at Ski Cooper in Leadville. With a vertical lift of 1,200 ft, this ski area has a summit of 11,200 ft, making it one of America's highest elevated hills. Not only are there 400 acres of lift serviced runs, but avid skiers and snowboarders can take to the backcountry's 2,400 acre Snowcat served areas. Ski school is offered for all levels and ages of clients, including disabled skiers by appointment. A lodge with a restaurant, a nursery and a retail shop is found on-site, as well as a rental shop.

Located 9,280 ft (2,828 m) above sea level, the resort boasts roughly 1,500 rooms to accommodate guests in more than 900 lodging choices. The season runs from mid-November to mid-April. Child-care services and a shuttle bus are on-hand for visitors' convenience.

Aspen Mountain, or Ajax as it's sometimes called by locals, is a serious mountain for serious skiers. There are no beginner runs on this mountain, with most of the runs labeled as more difficult, most difficult and expert. The mountain is best knowns for steep, bumpy runs for the more experienced to enjoy. Previously closed to snowboarders, Aspen Mountain now accommodates them on the hill as well. Five restaurants are located on the mountain.

Buttermilk is the smallest of Aspen's four ski mountains and is primarily geared towards easy and beginner runs. The mountain is also known for its terrain parks and pipes and has been a regular host of the Winter X Games. Free shuttle buses run between all four mountains and villages. Aspen's ski resorts include Snowmass, Aspen Mountain (Ajax), Highlands and Buttermilk.

The Gold Run Nordic Center has 20+ groomed kilometers of skating and classic trails, in addition to a network of backcountry touring and snowshoe trails. A rental shop that offers skating equipment, snowshoes and special packages are also available. Situated in Vail Valley, Beaver Creek is known for both its posh amenities and challenging terrain. Home to the international ski circuit, Beaver Creek regularly hosts World Cup downhill ski race courses. Families skiing with children will be glad to know that on-hill daycare is available for children aged two months to six years. Snowboarders are welcome at Beaver Crrek and anyone from beginner to expert has room to ride. Check out the Upper Sheephorn Park and the new Lariat gladed trail.

Howelsen Hill Ski Area is one of the oldest ski areas in the United States, as well as the training grounds for numerous Olympic skiers. It boasts facilities such as a ski jumping complex, 15 runs, a chairlift and a snowboarding terrain park. People can use the area daily from early December until late March.

Home of champage powder and world champions Ann Battelle and Billy Kidd, Steamboat is rated as one of the five largest resorts in the country, spannig a complete mountain range. Steamboat offers 2,939 skiiable acres featuring 20 lifts with a total of 141 trails. Snowboarders may enjoy the Maverick Superpipe, which is one of the longest in North America. Some of the most remarkable light dry powder snow can be found here. The resort town at the base of the mountain features numerous choices for accommodation and apre ski entertainment.

Winter Park encompasses over 2,886 skiiable acres and 134 runs. With 35% of runs geared toward intermediate skiers and 56% toward experts, the remaining 9% of runs are dedicated to beginners. The resort also includes eight high speed lifts. Snowborders are very welcome at Winter Park and experienced riders will love the challenges of the upper bowls.
The resort provides onsite childcare services to children aged two months to five years in the Winter Park Children's Center located at the base of the mountain.

Snowmass is the largest of Aspen's four hills, with a total of more than 86 trails on 3,128 acres and a vertical rise of 4,406 feet. Found west of Aspen in Snowmass Village, this mountain boasts a total of 22 lifts including high-speed quad chairs, double chairs, magic carpets and beginner lifts. This area is considered family friendly and is a snowboarder's paradise. It has a Super Dragon half-pipe with miles of terrain park riding. Nine restaurant are available to skiers at Snowmass. Arapahoe Basin More Info

Situated in a bowl high above the Continental Divide at 13,050 ft (4000 m), Arapahoe Basin is said to be the highest skiable terrain in North America. Due to its high elevation, the ski season here is long and frequently extends into June and occasionally July or August.
Although only 900 skiable acres (450 ha) in size, this bowl offers challenging terrain with 40% of runs designated as 'expert', 45% as intermediate and the remaining 15% as beginner.
On-site accommodations are not available at the base of the mountain but a host of lodging choices exists in Keystone.
